Custom Furniture Piece

In this project created as a part of my coursework, I designed a bespoke piece of furniture that was tailored to the needs of a client—a fashion designer in need of a dedicated workspace. The result is an organic-shaped sewing desk that seamlessly marries form, function, and creative expression.

Design Concept: Envisioning an ergonomic and inspiring space for the fashion designer, the organic-shaped desk offers a blend of functionality and aesthetics. The 4x8 feet workspace caters to the specific needs of sewing, patternmaking, and fabric manipulation, providing ample room for creative exploration.

Key Features:

• Custom Organic Shape: The desk's unique, organic form not only serves an aesthetic purpose but also enhances the functionality of the workspace.

• Scaled Plans and Elevations: Scaled plans and elevations translated the concept into precise visual representations, ensuring accuracy in the fabrication process.

• Joinery Visualization: A detailed view showing all the joinery required for the project provides a comprehensive guide for the fabrication process.

• Cost Analysis: A thorough calculation of material costs and labor ensures both practicality and financial feasibility.

Technologies Used:

• SketchUp: Employed for designing and visualizing the organic-shaped desk, allowing for a 3D representation of the concept.

• Enscape: Utilized for rendering, providing realistic visualizations.

• AutoCAD: Applied for creating scaled plans.

• InDesign: Utilized for assembling a presentation.

Physical Model: In addition to digital representations, an exact scaled physical model was crafted with detail.
