Cooking Classes Venue

For this coursework project, I designed a Cooking Classes Venue located in Capitol Hill, Seattle. The objective was to create a functional space and to cultivate an environment that fosters community engagement, anchored by a concept of emotional and spatial transparency.

Design Concept: The guiding principle of transparency shaped every aspect of the venue, creating an open, interconnected space that encourages collaboration and shared experiences. From the layout to the movable partitions, the design promotes a sense of accessibility and connection, embodying the venue's role as a hub for culinary enthusiasts and the local community.

Key Features:

  • Open Floor Plan: The floor plan maximizes openness, seamlessly connecting various spaces without traditional doors.

  • Movable Partitions and Screens: Flexible partitions allow for dynamic configurations, enabling the space to adapt to different events.

  • Retail Section: A dedicated retail area offers kitchen essentials, extending the culinary experience beyond the classes.

  • Inclusive Design: Prioritizing accessibility, ADA-compliant counter spaces and sinks in every cooking classroom ensure that the venue is functional for individuals with different abilities.

  • Multifunctional Spaces: In addition to cooking classrooms, the venue features a small library, offices, and a cozy outdoor area, encouraging diverse uses and enhancing the overall community experience.

Software Used:

  • Revit: Employed for floor plan drafting, ensuring precision and accuracy in the layout design.

  • SketchUp: Utilized for detailed 3D modeling and visualization.

  • Enscape: Applied to create a realistic preview of the venue.

  • Adobe Photoshop: Used for enhancing visual presentations, and refining the renderings.
